Project Overview
TwoMoons is a science fiction themed tcg and board game bar located next to Stettbach station in Zurich. The space is designed as a crashed spaceship. It is a place where players from all walks of life gather to play, connect, and explore. My role as co-founder was to shape the user experience, narrative, and visual identity.
Narrative & Design Concept
The world of Aldria TwoMoons’ backstory unfolds on Aldria, a planet illuminated by two moons, Verdona and Luminara. After a small exploration vessel crash-lands, its crew transforms their broken ship into a gathering hub for travelers and locals alike. The idea of "community through play" became the emotional foundation for the space.
Discovering the setting From the beginning, we knew the theme would belong to the realm of science fiction, but the exact setting only revealed itself when I first entered the physical location. The irregular walls and light through the trees outside the space immediately gave the feeling of a crashed spaceship in the woods.
Geometry of TwoMoons Instead of forcing the room into a conventional grid, I worked with its non-square geometry. In spaceships nothing is square, it's either rounded or hexagonal/octagonal. These hexagons and octagons then became the design identity of TwoMoons.
Original Sketches
Early concept sketches exploring mood and the atmosphere of the space aswell as testing different science fiction elements. A lot has changed over time, however some key concepts stayed.
